dear boys,
[i'm going to try not to cry while writing this letter...]
it's been a real pleasure waking up every morning at 6:30
to see your smiling faces before you two head off to school.
friday (january 10th, 2014) will be my last morning watching
you while your mother gets ready for work; let's be honest,
neither of us expected to get close - i was just another
sitter and you two were rowdy brothers that needed watching.
when your mother decided to adopt your younger brother, who
we all know is higher maintenance than even you, John, i
knew that my time would be limited. it's hard work dealing
with a 2-year-old with the mental stability of a 6-month-old
and the size of a 4-year-old... even if he wasn't that bad,
i am not certified in CPR and that's a big skill to have.
your new sitter is Brittany, your mother's coworker's sister;
we all met her this past monday and i could tell you didn't
like her. she brought her little chihuahua over to scare
Nelly, your lovely cat. i'm sorry that i can't do anything
about that - she's your new sitter, better learn to like her;
besides, your mother doesn't have enough money to pay us both.
if you two ever want to hang out or go somewhere,
just ask your mother - i would be more than happy
to watch you two again.
thank you for being such sweet and inspiring kids
this past year and a half - you proved to me that
i want to work with children in my future.
for 10 and 13-year-olds,
i couldn't have asked
for anything more.

I babysat these two kids (named John and Quay) for this single mother every morning from 7 to 7:30 while she left to go to work. These two boys are both adopted, too. John has some mental problems so I had to make sure he took his meds and other things...
They recently adopted a 3rd kid who is more extreme and I was scared to watch him alone... PLUS he needs to be tube-fed, something I have NO experience in. Therefore, she got a new sitter for the 3 of them. I've cried every day this week so far.
